What if the brain was 10 times more active than we think?

Once again, fundamental research is making discoveries that will change our understanding of life.

Using new technologies, researchers have discovered in rats that dendrites (extensions of branch-shaped neurons) are capable of spontaneously emitting 10 times as many electrical signals as the bodies of neurons, when they were though to only passively transmit the signals of the bodies!

Knowing that dendrites represent 90% of the neural tissue, this discovery could revolutionize our understanding of the brain, how it functions and its pathologies.
