Unequal in the fight against intestinal infection
A team from EPFL sought out to understand why some individuals are more susceptible to intestinal infections than others. The researchers infected flies (Drosophila melanogaster) with intestinal bacteria and identified a group of genes in only some specific strains of Drosophila, which could promote resistance to the infections and limit the damage to the bowel.
