The COM(2020)16 report showcases the extended statistics on the number of animals used for scientific purposes from 2015 to 2017. It was drawn up by the Commission based on information provided by the Member States from 2015 to 2017.

This report presents the data in three categories :
             - all of the animals used;
             - details on use (type of use, origin, reuse, genetics, severity);
             - animals used for the creation and maintenance of transgenic lines.
New graphs on the numbers of animals and the severity of the procedures will help define the areas where progress will be sought out in priority.
