Obesity and pollutants in league to harm our liver
Inserm researchers have found that high doses of dioxin administered for six weeks to obese mice resulted in severe hepatic inflammation followed by fibrosis. Liver fibrosis can progress into cirrhosis.
whether this toxic effect is found in humans that experience lower doses of pollutant but over a longer period of time, remains to be seen. It should be noted that the mechanism in question can also be activated by other pollutants such as diesel or tobacco.
