Insect biology to aid the fight against cancer

The centromere anchors the chromosomes during cell division. It is frequently altered in cancer. In insects it has remarkable features. The study of the centromere in moths and butterflies at the Curie Institute helps better understand the link between its build and its function, which still remains quite mysterious today.
