How to handle a mouse? Not that easy

The mouse is the most used animal in research. Numerous scientific works have helped establish good practices for the manipulation of laboratory mice

Good practices involve manipulating a mouse without causing an aversive reaction that could be harmful to the animal, the manipulator and the experimental protocol.

The two recommended methods are:

                - the tunnel

                - the palm of the hand

The National Center for the Replacement, Refinement & Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs) has videos to illustrate these manipulations.

The NC3Rs has also published a table summarizing the important studies that validated these findings.
