How does depression develop ?

Depression affects people of all ages and an estimate one in five suffers from depression. The origin of this disease is still poorly understood, which makes it that much more difficult to treat. Researchers have studied in mice the effect of inflammation, mild chronic stress and neurogenesis disruption on the development of depression. It appears that inflammation and neurogenesis have some kind of role in the process. This suggests that the treatment of depression may benefit from a combination of drugs.
