Generalizing cartilage regenerative medicine

Regenerative medicine of cartilage has been successful in treating arthritis and must now move to a more widespread clinical use. This is the purpose of the Bio-Comet European project that aims to make available to medicine, grafts of autologous cartilage tissue (made from cells of the recipient) of pharmaceutical quality.

The following results were obtained:

- Creation of a bioreactor for the production of grafts

- Development of the management of traceability data

- transfer to a test facility

- Validation of preclinical studies at a large scale (sheep)

The final step will be to market these grafts as therapeutic solutions.
