The function of all mouse genes

The genome of the mouse was decoded in 2002 and 80% of the genes of mice have an equivalent in humans. However, which genes have the same functions in humans still remains unknown. This is why a worldwide project to discover the function of each of the twenty thousand genes of the mouse was launched in 2007.

This project will soon be completed and the European project EUCOMMTOOLS played an important role in the process. The information obtained and made public will help strengthen the fundamental knowledge on the mechanisms behind human diseases and how to treat them.
