First rat forelimb grown in a lab

For the first time, US researchers were capable of recreating a partially functional, biological rat forelimb. In order to control the circulatory system in the new limb, they successfully transplanted it on an amputated adult rat. Thanks to this innovative technique, the new limb is genetically identical to the recipient animal, thus avoiding graft rejection.
