Controlling African swine fever

African swine fever is a highly contagious viral disease for swine with a death rate close to 100%. The disease has now spread to Eastern Europe. The European project ASFORCE is developing prevention and control strategies: informing veterinarians, breeders, hunters and policymakers, studying transmission in the wild (wild boar) and designing a vaccine.
