Cataracts in dogs

Could eye drops soon replace the surgical procedure needed to treat cataracts? Researchers applied drops containing lanosterol on the eyes of dogs with naturally occurring cataracts. After six weeks of the treatment, the opacity of the lens of each dog decreased, reducing the severity of the disease. Now, the efficacy of the treatment needs to be validated in humans.
