Artificial lung transplant successful in pigs

For the first time, scientists have successfully transplanted an artificial lung in a pig. The researchers used the lungs of dead animals from which the cells had been removed. They use the framework of the organ to support new cells. This technique was already tested in rats in 2010. This breakthrough aims at increasing the number of organs available for transplants and save many lives.
