Are you aware of trophallaxis ?

Trophallaxis is a type of food transfer used by social insects such as bees and ants. These animals have two stomachs: one for feeding and the other for feeding the other insects of their colony. It is the latter that allows for trophallaxis.
Researchers studying the content of this “social” stomach have discovered, in addition to food, juvenile hormones and micro RNAs that are growth, development and behaviour maturations factors. Trophallaxis therefore appears to be a communication tool that
influences the development of individuals and the management of insect colonies.
