A 3D cell culture model to help breast cancer research

Researchers have developed a way to maintain mouse breast tissue in a lab for more than 2 months using a culture medium enriched with growth factors. This new model will help better study the inner workings of breast tissue, its development and diseases such as cancer. It will also be possible to examine the impact of hormones, genetic modulations and various treatments at the cellular level.  This in vitro model will be used in the research against breast cancer in addition to existing models, such as mice models.
